I reported my employer to the DOL for not paying me on time.

I worked at a place for a out 5 mo ths and it was always a pain to get my checks. Friday was Pay day, but also my day off. But checks were rarely available on Monday morning. Managers would lock them in their desks or take them home, “for safekeeping” so I'd have to wait until they clocked in on Monday or Tuesday to get checks. Time sheets were always inaccurate too. I sent so many emails trying to locate my checks and they were ignored So I gave 2 weeks notice. My last day was the 9th. I was supposed to get a check on the 11th and the my final check on the 25th. So I gave 2 weeks notice. My last day was the 9th. I was supposed to get a check on the 11th and the my final check on the 25th.
I made a plan to pick up the check on the 11th, but last minute they told me to come on Monday instead because the office was closed Friday. On Monday I got there and they told me my check had been mailed from the officd on Friday. How could they mail it if the office was closed?

I waited until Wednesday and when I still didn't have my check I emailed and explained that checks need to be on time – that's federal law, I needed to buy groceries and I wanted to make sure I would not have the same delay on my last check too. I asked how this could get resolved quickly.

The email back was so dismissive and condescending, literally explaining to me how the mail works. Explaining that since it was mailed Friday afternoon from the office mailbox (again, they said the office was closed!) We should assume it wasn't picked up til Monday. “Its Wednesday at 10:19am” as if that makes it ok.

Then they told me I could pick up my last check, due to me on the 25th on the 28th or I could have it mailed and I needed to pick one. Of those options.

I emailed back saying this wasn't acceptable and that I needed my money ASAP and I needed my last check on pay day. I got no response.

I have already filled out the wage claim form for my state. I believe the check came today, since my roommate texted that I got a letter. But that means the money won't be available til Monday at the earliest, even if I mobile deposit it.

Does anyone have any insight into how the DOL will proceed with this? Will they just tell me it's resolved now that I've got the check? This is so awful because I have bills to pay and some of them (Comcast and phone! )get reported on my credit right away if my payments are even a little late
