Studies on working less hours?

Does anyone have studies on how basically overworked employees produce far inferior work than well rested employees. I need peer reviewed material that is decently if not well vetted. I’m talking cutting from 50-60+ hours a week down to 30-40. Looking to present to senior management soon and am looking to drop a bombshell because team performance has been down month after month and SM has been hounding me about it. I’m looking to show how since they cut a shift and everyone had to pick up that slack. But that also meant that now no one can take sick days (we work 365/24-7) because there’s only 4 team members now. Vacations are a nightmare as people end up having to switch from day shift to nights and back to days. And on top of everything they added a bunch of new procedures and work duties. Everything aside, this job…

Everything aside, this job used to be super easy, but cutting the 5th position meant no breaks and no forgiveness in the schedule. The fifth position was a floater who covered any day throughout the week. They had to do 40 hours but they chose the days. Even with the extra work this job would be a cake walk.
