I work in a manufacturing/production kind of environment where our dept has like 600 people. Today, I started a new schedule and when I came in I checked the seating board since changing a schedule results in a new team, and new seats.
I found my name and sat down in the seat I was assigned, someone in my new team came up to me and was so set I was in the wrong spot. He said so-so sits here and they get in at this time, so I explained this is where my name was on the board, he acted like he didn’t believe me and then went to double check.
Then when so-so came into work and saw me sitting there, she immediately made me feel I was being interrogated because she just came up and began saying this: How long you here? Are you leaving soon, are you on OT, this is my spot? Due to already having someone else harangue me, I responded with: I just changed to this shift and I think they’ve changed the seats around, which is why I am here now. So then she ran off to check the seating board. I asked her if they goofed up and if she needs to be here due to an accommodation. She said no and began setting up at her new desk.
Am I wrong to feel upset that Instead of trying to figure out the issue, I get interrogated like I’m some intruder?
Looking for advice because I’m kind of a quiet person with anxiety so navigating what just happened is kind of hard because I don’t want to be rude.
I also kind of hate this job and the mangers for other reasons, but maybe I’ll get into that later.
