I put in a request with my bosses to work from home 1 day a week. I have one of the longest commutes in the office and it’s burning me out as I frequently stay late. My mental and physical health are rapidly declining and I’ve had several breakdowns the past month. For the last year and a half there’s not a single week I didn’t work overtime, my job is demanding but I do like what I do. I need one day a week where I’m not driving so I requested I work from home one day a week. None of the bosses come in on this day and no one needs me to be in office on this day, I can fully do my job from home. Was immediately denied because “we have a strict no wfh policy” even though I know several people in the company that work from home full time 🤨 basically, they said suck it up. So, I will no longer be working overtime, I will be taking longer lunch breaks, and on Fridays I will be doing the absolute bare minimum. They deny me a basic comfort to make my life easier, I take away how hard I work for a company that clearly doesn’t care about me.
