Got chewed out by my boss for keeping him “in the loop”

So my boss is the VP of our construction division and wants me to keep him in the loop with decisions so he's aware of things going on. Cool, easy to do. For some background, I'm in charge of a fabrication shop within a big HVAC company. My boss's daddy owns the company. So our warehouse supervisor doesn't like ordering things to stock the warehouse from my shop because he thinks as a supervisor i should come down, look at his warehouse and make a list of what to make, then have my team make it and deliver it and put it away. Keep in mind I supply for Numerous warehouses that we don't do that for. I talk to his boss, we come up with some solutions so I call my boss to “keep him in the loop”. All he says is “Why are you asking me this shit?…

All he says is “Why are you asking me this shit? This is between you and (blank's) boss. You two fucking figure it out and do what you need to do. I not part of that world”. I told him “Alright man just keeping you in the loop like you asked me to do” and he repeats himself about “not bothering him with this shit”.

Ever since I was promoted three years ago every decision or change I make he tries to block or change to what he thinks it should be with no prior experience with a shop setting. Keep in mind he promoted me with no experience running a department, and when I asked for any advice he tells me “you know the job, you figure it out”.

Am I in the wrong here? Because I'm at the point of quitting and taking my whole team with me to leave the company high and dry to die.
