How do I find/retrieve the documents I signed at on boarding?

A few years ago I started a new job. I signed a few files via email, but later had a whole onboarding “packet” that was essentially signed through an online portal. I am afraid one of those documents was a non-compete agreement, but I didn’t get an emailed copy of any of the files and have genuinely no idea how I would go about finding them, or finding out if I signed one. I know this sounds silly (“why would you sign something that you didn’t save a copy of?”) but at the time I think I was so excited and agreeable that I didn’t even think to save the files. If I did think it, I may have assumed it would be accessible later. In any event, is there a way to ask for these documents from HR that wouldn’t cause panic? Or, any other advice? In any event, is there a way to ask for these documents from HR that wouldn’t cause panic? Or, any other advice? I’m assuming the company is required to show me copies of what I’ve signed if I ask, but I’d ideally not like to ask if I could find a way around it.
