manager declined my request for 1 evening (6hr shift) off to take my dad for a birthday dinner in 2 months

trying to book a weekday evening off from one of my part time jobs for my dad's birthday over two months in advance (the reason was stated in the comments of the request as well so my manager knew why I wanted the evening off) and my manager declines the request with, “well I already know I want you working that day. the schedule isn't posted, but get Someone to switch with you before I post the schedule.” so. let's get this straight. none of us can see who is working when… I cannot switch for a shift I do not know exists… I don't even know what my “scheduled shift” is for that day to offer anyone a trade, but regardless, I don't know who is working to trade my shift with….. our schedules are posted a month in advance so the rule is minimum 1 month notice is…

what new hoop do I have to jump through next to book a single 6hr period off work??!! I even offered the alternative of opening or working a mid, but. fuck me, ig.
