Firing My Employer

Firing My Employer I recently quit a job after 8 months of bickering about too many hours without compensation only because it was a “salary” position. This is the email I sent the day before starting my new job (with a company I have a 6-1/2 year history with.) I did not give a notice (first time in my life) out of fear that they would let me go and I was living paycheck to paycheck with a wife and 2 kids at home… I thought it was rather funny. The guys that I worked with there got a laugh, as well… This is what I sent to my boss. Firing My Employer

I recently quit a job after 8 months of bickering about too many hours without compensation only because it was a “salary” position. This is the email I sent the day before starting my new job (with a company I have a 6-1/2 year history with.) I did not give a notice (first time in my life) out of fear that they would let me go and I was living paycheck to paycheck with a wife and 2 kids at home… I thought it was rather funny. The guys that I worked with there got a laugh, as well…

This is what I sent to my boss. I bcc’d the superintendent and VP of Fabrication, as well:

The purpose of this email is to serve as an immediate termination of (said employer) as my employer. I, knowingly, took a tremendous pay cut in order to have more time at home with my family. In the 8 months I’ve been here, I can tell this is not the case. I refuse to take both a financial pay cut and lose time with family. I am no longer willing to try and perform my duties with my hands tied due to micromanagement. I can see that this company doesn’t have much vertical movement for its employees. The pay for the guys on the floor is equivalent to what I was making as an ASME certified pipe welder in a fab shop back in 2007. I have chosen to accept a better offer of employment for the following reasons:
• Everything as stated above
• More competitive wages
• More competitive healthcare
• More competitive retirement
• More competitive holidays off
• More competitive time off accrual

You guys really need to get with the times and start treating your people right.
