Should I have been fired?

This was a couple months ago but I think about it a lot so I’m asking you guys. I was hired at a auto dealership as a assistant to the service advisor and they all loved me during the interview and even invited me to celebrate thanksgiving with them since I didn’t have family in town. Anyway I worked as the assistant and did everything they asked me to no complaints from them. After about a week as assistant the manager called me into his office to ask if I wanted to be the new service advisor. Basically the person who handles oil changes, new filters etc. I said that I wasn’t sure if I had the skills for that but he assured me I’d do great. I start as express service advisor and it does not go well, the manager basically lied about what I needed to know to…

I start as express service advisor and it does not go well, the manager basically lied about what I needed to know to do well at this job. I had to know every car part and how it worked which I know nothing about, which he also knew because I mentioned it in the interview. So after a week of me barely surviving he says I’m doing great. The next week they’ve hired a new girl for the assistant job which is understandable. They also hire another express service advisor and say he’s just going to help me out because there’s a lot of cars. The following week he tells me there’s not enough cars for both of us so I can just do paperwork in some other bs position he made up. I end up having barely anything to do so it’s not that surprising that they next move me to the car detailing department because they said they are going to have someone else do the paperwork. I really liked the detailing department most of them were actually nice compared to the office ladies who would audibly talk shit about me and giggle like they’re not 50 entire years old. Anyway I work in the detailing department for a week again 0 complaints and they seemed to like me. But then that Monday, boss calls me into the office to tell me they are letting me go with 0 reasoning. Any idea what the thinking was here?
