Long story short, I did a terrible thing and stole from my employer. (less than $300) it was a moment of sheer stupidity i most definitely regret.
Things have come to light that may very well have shed light on this event. It wouldn’t be far fetched to see the money isn’t there and the paper work doesn’t really add up. All roads lead back to me as the common denominator.
This was brought up last Thursday without any accusations or real questioning. I worked from home Friday and Monday. Returned to the office Tuesday with continued eavesdropping on conversations about said event. This event was tied to other discrepancies found, so it wasn’t an isolated incident.
I performed my job like normal Tuesday that includes tasks where I handle money. Maybe my boss was still investigating said events and didn’t have enough to go on?
I had today off. Do you think if I go in tomorrow and nothing is said to me to stop or prevent me from doing my job that I might be in the clear?
If I somehow manage to get through this ordeal, I’m finding another job as soon as possible and never being such an idiot to steal again. Even if I’m not fired, I feel like my boss is highly suspicious of me and I’ll have a Target on my back. Rightly so of course.
Anyone been in a similar situation? I promise to do better and be a better person. Hope I don’t get fired. I deserve it if it happens. Just hope I get a 2nd chance.
