I’ve worked for 5 years in corporate America during marketing and I’ve learned that anyone who is a high level employee is basically just coasting during absolutely nothing while their reports work insanely busy to make them look good. My current boss basically gives us all of his work and even asks us to explain to him how to say things during presentations relaying what our team is working on because he absolutely has no idea what we even do. He goes MIA for a few days then appears again responding to emails he’s cc’d on to say something or ask a question when it was resolved or completed days before. When he is on one of his rants where he emails a bunch, he’s disrespectful and degrading to us women almost as if we don’t understand anything. He approves things that he doesn’t even fucking look at then blames us that we should’ve had him look it over more or not have done it that way. Today he told me I needed to be taught how to communicate via email because I sent him a spreadsheet a few days ago that HE ASKED FOR, without context. I said I SENT IT DURING THE MEETING HE ASKED FOR IT and he told me he’d like to set up a meeting to discuss best email practices ………. OMG WHY ARE ALL OF THEM SETTING UP MEEETINGS FOR NO REASON !!!
