Background: I’m a senior engineer making 95k at a company that I’ve been at for 4 years. I was one of the first engineers in their US office; so I’m often the person that people come to for problems that no one else in the company can solve.
Today, I found out a lot of the newer engineers that are one level beneath me are making 115k. I have double the workload, stress, and tenure yet they’re making so much more than me.
The manager that I had throughout didn’t like me either and he made it abundantly clear. Every year he’d give me a 4% raise and act like that was stretch for him to give…even though I’m one of the proven top performers.
3 months ago, the manager was promoted to director and I received a new boss, who is great actually. However I’m not sure how much the new boss can do considering who she reports to.
Any advice for someone going through this? I truly loved working at the company and have a lot of pride in my work, but I feel so cheated.
