My job runs on a regular tardy/absent point system. We get 6 absences a rolling year and 12 tardies. The handbook doesn't specify how tardy you have to be before being considered absent. My last 2 jobs it was 2 hours. Since it's not stated can they consider me absent if I'm 4 (or hell, even 7) hours late? Is there some industry (manufacturing) wide standard for this in the US? I can't afford an absence but I need more than 2 hours. Think it's worth the risk?
Additional info: I work 4 10 hour shifts instead of 5 8s so it seems to me that the tardy range should be longer than a traditional 8 hour shift
