Buying a 500k house on a 100K salary = Douchebag at work everytime!

Its like clock work isnt it? Some dude at work has 0 real skills but claims to have soft skills such as “leadership”. Despite being a Sr software dev title. Ill call him Mr D.Bag Im the solution/tech lead on my team. Mentoring, guiding, designing etc.. Mr D.Bag is on my team now and guess what? Me D.Bag cant learn these skills, yet some how he is magically the same job level as me. After trying to get him to learn for months, a sudden coordinated attack comes out of left field from him and one of his Cronies, attacking my “leadership” which is about 20% of my job. Leadership in this context being “Go do this, go do that”. I guess he can do it better, so he wants my lead position. Step one of course is to rally someone else to his cause. Dumbfounded by his motivation, I decided to do research, and low and behold My D.Bad bought in late 2022, a 465K house. In our titles we make 100k or so.

The recipe is : No skills, buy too big of house (on 80k car) = they gotta move up NOW, gotta find a spot to be “safe”

God forbid he just better himself and learn the skills his job title REQUIRES.

Honestly I told my manager if he wants my lead title let him have it. I no longer have the energy. I find it interesting though that when he takes my title some how he is required to do 80% less than I was, simply telling me to go design this, go develop that. I guess Ill be doing all the designing, mentoring, developing while he does the “leadership” part.

Oh BTW Im up for promotion, that is why is he desperate, he needs it badly and they are hard to come by. Iv veen in my role 6 years. Him? 8 Months so he definitely due.
