Productivity Tracker… for a non-productivity based role???

Hey all, I work for a very large corporation in a WFH role where I create reports within a small team for all departments within the company. We do the vast majority of the reports for these departments in the first 7-10 days of each month, and then create some “as needed” ones here and there. We use PowerApps, PowerBI, Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. for software and we have deadlines, but nothing about the role is measured in output volume or time taken to complete tasks. I’ve been very happy in my role and my work/life balance has never been better, until recently… We were recently informed that Sapience had been tied to everyone’s work computer within the company. Hey all,

I work for a very large corporation in a WFH role where I create reports within a small team for all departments within the company. I’ve been very happy in my role and my work/life balance has never been better, until recently…

We were recently informed that Sapience had been tied to everyone’s work computer within the company. They claim it’s used to track productivity in the sense of “teams are spending x amount of time in this program, it’s eating up the majority of their time, so is there an opportunity to find a more efficient way to do this work other than within this program?” Or something to that affect?

I’m cynical as can be and I imagine it’s actually being used to compile productivity data (or lack thereof) to hold against employees to make decisions on who to let go when times “get tough” (CEO didn’t get to buy his 18th yacht this year) for this massive corporation.

My direct manager cannot see my productivity analytics, but people wayyyy above him can. (For the record, my manager is amazing and literally tells me to go run an errand or something if I have no work to do)

I’ve done what I normally do and put something heavy on my keyboard to keep my computer and Teams awake when I’m not busy with anything, but have noticed that this either shows up as “Unaccounted” time and not “Work” time, or it logs LITERALLY NOTHING and will say I worked for 1.5 hours that day. I’ve been trying it within lots of my software and it doesn’t seem consistent in tracking. Hell, even if i watch YouTube video tutorials on how to do something for a report I’m creating, the tracking software logs it as “unaccounted” time still.

I fear that this will be used against me someday even if I don’t give them reason to believe I’m not getting my work done.

I cannot install anything on this computer, but anyone know of a workaround to show I am working?
