This is my first post. I had fun reading all the posts of these awful jobs on this sub reddit for a while so here's is my recent encounter.
Last week I was looking for jobs on Craigslist when a “PAID DAILY!!!” post caught my attention. It is a delivery job, where you drive your own vehicle, you deliver car parts from a warehouse to various mechanic shops around town. The hours were 9am-5pm. The post said that they paid 115$ per day via cash app. I wanted to try it out and see how it went for a little bit, why not? I started on Monday and the job is super simple:
Show up to the warehouse. Load your car with car parts. You also get a company phone to use for gps, and to snap pictures of the delivered parts. It's literally uber eats but for mechanics.
The first red flag was when I called the number (New Jersey number) on the posting and a man answered saying “Cool! Can you start ASAP?! Also what time is it in Colorado?!” and I knew that my “boss” is in another state across the country. He assigned me to a warehouse across town. On my first day after completing my last route, a completely different number calls me (Houston TX number) and asks for my cash app, so I gave it him. Thankfully, I got paid my 115$ but I literally spent 30$ of gas in 8 hours… DO THE MATH…. I had in mind that they were paying some gas money at least and the 115$ was a base pay.
I called the guy paying me and I ask why the pay was so low, he says “I can give you a raise if you bring more drivers but it will be 5$ per person after 30 days”
I said “fuck it” and decided to work at least until another employer calls me, which luckily someone offered me a job and I start soon. However, my “boss” wanted me to work today (Saturday) which I told him that I would come in but I have better plans to be honest.
I no called no show but I absolutely love it how he tried to make it seem like I lost some huge opportunity. Unless you are desperate for a job I refuse to work for so little.

Okay, I'm assuming you quit! To be honest I can't work with anybody that does a no call no show anyway. Have a good weekend and I'd appreciate the help while it lasted. @ 11:05am
