I'm a barista at a coffee shop that stays open on Labor Day. Today I'm here first thing in the morning on a holiday, and nobody is coming in because who the fuck gets up early on Labor Day to come get coffee? Not only am I NOT making holiday pay, I'm making pretty much minimum wage because I rely on tips and nobody is here. I'm feeling so angry at the business owners and management who are all at home right now while we are here running the show bc they're too greedy to just close today.
But hey, Labor Day right?! All the white collar workers get to celebrate it while the working class laborers all continue serving them. Such a fucking joke.
