I work at a dog boarding/daycare facility. I am the employee with the most seniority, at 10 years.
I paid to put myself through dog grooming school a few years back and then taught other staff at the business how to properly deshed a dog. I didn't teach them trims/shaves as I didn't want to lose hours.
Fast forward a few years and there's a change of ownership. I recommend a dog trainer to the owner for training with the entire staff so those lacking knowledge in dog behavior learn better skills while handling/supervising dogs.
A year passes and they apparently sent an employee for training. They didn't even ask me. I would have gone for training over grooming any day. This upset me a lot and I felt undervalued and overlooked so I stopped grooming for them (still offered desheds, no shaves). I wasn't paid enough anyway in comparison to others.
This upset me a lot and send me into a depression so I decide to take Fridays off for a few months. Time rolls around for them to send someone else for the training, and they offer it to me then take it back because I'm not full time. I stated I would gladly return to 5 days/week for the opportunity to take the course.
It's been 6 months since then and I haven't received a raise in almost 2 years. I haven't been sent for the course yet and have to watch two staff members with much less seniority and poor work ethic (they slack a lot and are highly ineffectient at training, they take forever) get to train dogs over me. To make matters worse, the one that was sent has been very disrespectful to me and others in the past.
So, I basically just feel like they royally stabbed me in the back and that I'm stuck here because jon opportunities around here are very few.
