I want to volunteer but I’m so tired.

(Long post, sorry) I’m a passionate person and there are so many causes that are important to me and I really get a lot of joy and fulfillment from volunteering. I’m also a major introvert, so I need a lot of time to recharge. I daydream all the time about having more time and energy to devote to volunteering but the hours are so few and precious for us introverts that it feels overwhelming to actually schedule anything. Weekends are always busy with all the other shit you have to do that you didn’t have the energy to do at night after working all day. (I can’t imagine if I had kids on top of that, either.) I just want to have the time to be able to do more for the world than just being some office drone that doesn’t do anything truly impactful. Oh wow, I reordered my…

I daydream all the time about having more time and energy to devote to volunteering but the hours are so few and precious for us introverts that it feels overwhelming to actually schedule anything. I just want to have the time to be able to do more for the world than just being some office drone that doesn’t do anything truly impactful. Oh wow, I reordered my boss more staples before she ran out, what a noble contribution to society.

Sometimes this just really comes to the front of my mind, and I wondered if anyone else could relate. My extroverted counterparts are always like “well get out there and do it then; you have hours between work and bed or two whole days on the weekend!” but as someone with a chronic illness and an introverted personality, sometimes that just feels like not enough time.
