Id just like to know what it takes in this day and age to get fired for cause in Canada? I mean I get that if you're caught stealing, if you are verbally or physically abusive to other people while at work, destroy company equipment or other horrible things that should get you either reprimanded or fired, but what if the boss just doesn't like you? Can he or she find little reasons to build up a case to get rid of you? Does their have to be written warnings on file and attempts to coach you?
I'm dealing with something right now that I may need some help with, I'm pushing back on the amount of workload assigned to me and my team and advocating for myself in a professional manner but I hear this boss is vindictive and with the work I do there is any number of things that he could considered and infraction as the work is piece rate with a laundry list of items that need to be checked off before I code for it. Its highly set up in the companys favor, but doing all the work required I typically dont even stop for lunch or breaks in a 10 hour day.
I do have an employment lawyer on retainer as well. What would be the likely outcome of a wrongful dismissal for a 10 year employee averaging about $120k / year?
