So ! I’m leaving my job to go travelling. I’m a bartender, it’s a very exploitative workplace with unreasonable demands on the workers (such is hospitality, but it likes to pretend it’s not as bad as other places. Shocker – it’s worse).
Multiple people are on the verge of leaving at any given moment and so when I say ‘I’m leaving’ or mention job applications to other bartenders and certain managers, I have confidence they won’t say anything to the GM or DM since we’re all in the same boat. However, there are certain people I don’t reveal much to because I don’t trust them.
Long story short a manager (who I do not trust at all) guessed I was moving abroad. As soon as she saw my face she knew she was right and I knew she’d probably be telling theGM and made my peace with it.
BUT. turns out the manager and my other bar supervisor played rock paper scissors over who was going to tell the GM I was leaving 🙂 which takes childish to an extreme. I wouldn’t mind if she’d just told him but to make a game out of it? Nope!
So. I have a month left. I don’t really want to speak to either of them before I leave. But I want to cause as many problems as possible before I do leave 🙂 any tips welcome
