Let’s Not Pick on Good Work Benefits

Exactly what the title says. This sub is getting crazy recently, calling out things that are good, like benefits that allow people to take care of dependents and comparing it to vacation time or an infringement on their benefits. I would love if across the board we could have benefits that support people of all needs. Being able to take care of newborns, sick ones or being able to prioritize your own mental health. All these kinds of things and more would be great, and talking about them in a negative light doesn't help. Comparing benefits like this to vacation time or the need for higher pay because you don't have that situation is disingenuous. We don't need to be edgey, fighting each other and calling out each others situations. And at the same time we can call for better work life balance and compensation for work. Or in other…

This sub is getting crazy recently, calling out things that are good, like benefits that allow people to take care of dependents and comparing it to vacation time or an infringement on their benefits. I would love if across the board we could have benefits that support people of all needs. Being able to take care of newborns, sick ones or being able to prioritize your own mental health. All these kinds of things and more would be great, and talking about them in a negative light doesn't help. Comparing benefits like this to vacation time or the need for higher pay because you don't have that situation is disingenuous.

We don't need to be edgey, fighting each other and calling out each others situations. And at the same time we can call for better work life balance and compensation for work. Or in other words, someone taking care of someone in need doesn't infringe on you at all and if you really think it does, look up the definition of equity.

Let's fight the good fight. Let's fight together, not each other. Sick people, people with dependents, we aren't the enemy. Your workplace that doesn't properly staff or support your specific situation is. Or again in other words, us fighting about our specific situations against each other is what they want. Us saying parents get preferential treatment is what they want, to distract us from real issues corporations impose.
