So I have a connective tissue disorder which I disclosed to my boss when I was interviewed. The job itself “requires” employees to stand for the extended periods of time with a 30-min break for lunch. On a day that I stood for as long as I could, I felt extremely ill and told my manager I couldn’t do it anymore.
His response was that there would be a position opening up where I could be sitting while prepping the items. He even had the grace to allow two 10-minute breaks throughout the day. This was fine for me and I provided a detailed doctors note explaining my condition and the fact that I shouldn’t be standing for a long time.
He said this wasn’t specific enough and I should bring an updated note. Even my doctor didn’t understand what more they could say on the note.
Basically, he said the documentation from my DOCTOR wasn’t valid. I quit a few days ago because when we walked into work, all the chairs were gone. “Nobody has exceptions” he said. I’m just so confused because I don’t know how the product is more important than the health of an employee.
I feel relieved but damn
