My boss is leaving and led me to believe I’d be taking her job when she left. Now I found out this isn’t true.

My boss has taken a new position within our company in a different department. She told me a few weeks ago that she wants me to take her position and is recommending me for the position to her supervisor. I figured it would be a good opportunity for growth and more money, so I agreed to crosstrain while she starts her new position, which is now in the next week or so. I feel like I didn’t even have a chance to react. I’ve thought about it more and I don’t want to crosstrain for a position that I don’t even qualify for. It would come with a temporary raise but it’s only a few dollars more and I feel like now I will be expected to train my boss when they start. I will also be doing my job and hers until the position is filled since she only wants to stay a few weeks past her leave date to help me crosstrain. What do I do? How do I get out of this?

TL;DR: Boss told me I could apply for her job when she leaves, so I agreed to crosstrain, and now I found out I’m not going to be considered for the position so I want out.
