Reposting because it sucks to have had to deal with this then defend myself from a bunch of reddit strangers assuming
1) I never said I was fired
2)I'm self employed
3)My break wasn't 10 minutes
4)If everyone else is allowed to take their break when they want, I should be allowed to charge my phone for a few minutes before going on break..
5)I never got the chance to explain to anyone that I needed to charge my phone
[Context: I live over 2hrs out in a different town, I do temp work, immediately after my start time, I had to get in with the delivery driver and had been driving with him for over 4hrs. By the time we got back, my phone was on 1%]
What happened:
Coworker told me we take our breaks whenever, manager asked me if I was ready to take my break, I said no, she got an attitude and told me “Well it's the only time that's good for you to take your break well be busy later”
She asked me if my break was good after, in the restroom. I said “Yea” and left. Didn't continue the conversation, why would I want to
When I left the bathroom, she had another coworker tell me there's no work left for me and to go home
B.S
Why be a complete bitch if you're going to play with my rent money about it after..
Why even ask me what I want if I don't get a choice in the first place then get an attitude with me
She should've told me I have to take my break at that time if that's what she wanted
Or asked why and I would've gladly explained I just wanted to charge my phone because the van doesn't take a type c-charger
I got up at 3am for almost 200$. And made half because she thought she could be a b!Tch and I'd get over it
For one, I don't have to work with her. After she pulled that, I couldve gotten up and left
I have the power to block companies from requesting my work
Really blows mine that I'm in antiwork and all of the comments under my og post are asking me why I didn't suck it up and kiss her ass because I'm “risking my employment”
I am not employed by these bafoons for the very reason why they need temp workers– they treat the people who are employed by them like shit!
Most of the time, especially in food service, I am quick to realize why these places need employees.
They're nice places too. Big names, great food, fun jobs
Punk ass managers, short staffed, need people to stay stupid late
