I’m guessing the top reply is just going to be ‘leave’, but I have genuinely grown to care about the work I do. The business is built on helping vulnerable people and I’m very good at what I do. However the owners (married couple) are both extreme micromanagers and have issues with temper (they seem bipolar to me but haven’t shared that with us, explosive temper, extreme change in moods etc).
They change their story daily and blame everything on the my team, we have turned over about 20 staff in the last 2 years and the maximum size we have been was 10. They constantly bring their relationship issues into work and use employees as weapons against each other.
We’re currently at our lowest staff count in 4 years whilst dealing with 2x the customers and they constantly complain we are lazy and get nothing done throughout the day, despite them both micromanaging everything we do. We are receiving complaints from customers daily that they aren’t being attended to, and they throw us under the bus when speaking with customs very often (ie ‘hard to find good staff’, most of our customers are business owners).
Morale is at an all time low throughout the team and I don’t know how to raise this with them as they don’t respect anyone enough to believe us. They hired a professional business consultant a couple of years ago who tried to convince them to outsource management and step away from the business entirely, which they ignored.
How do I tell them I’m concerned without them using it against me?
