For anonymity sake I won't give the name, but it's a fairly large US company.
I started working for this company back in the beginning of summer 2023; pays more than my last job. One issue is that for the most part the job can be worked from home; with a few major exceptions or issues. They do have a work from home policy, but right now it is ONLY in cases of weather or other issues stopping most employees from safely being in office.
About 2 months back, I got sick with a summer cold or bad allergies. Didn't feel safe going in, but was willing to WFH. My teamlead had to deny it cause of policy as written. So instead of having a a worker on the clock being productive at home they would rather have me use my sick days and not be productive.
It's not a huge issue, but I remember thinking how ridiculous it was at the time.
