Frustrated about my work and asking for accommodations for carpal tunnel, that I’m pretty sure my work gave me. I work a production type of environment and I’ve been there 7 years. The tasks are mundane and super repetitive.
I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel several months ago in both hands after having an EMG/ NCS test done.
Under ADA, carpal tunnel falls under the cumulative trauma category and so I went to askjan.com for accommodation ideas because for about a year now half of the things I handle or touch cause me some hand pain, especially in thumbs, I also experience some numbness in fingers from time to time but my wrist and forearm seem to flare up and have some pain when I’m doing things for extended periods.
I had attempted to ask for some of these accommodations and my boss blew it off. I then went to my doctor to try to get a letter who works at the Clinc owned by my work and she also blew it off thinking I didn’t need accommodations. She said I should just see a specialist and work on therapy for it.
I’m not sure what to do anymore because I’m just trying to help make work more comfortable and less painful.
