Allow me to rant a little bit. So I made a post here 2 months ago about available remote work in Africa and my boss messaged me with an offer of a data entry position. He works for a company in the US and so he delegated his duties to me cause I’m he has another job. The data entry has been okay since I learned the system and the type of data we have. First month was great when it came to pay and overtime. After the first month my boss came up with a new pay scheme that would slash my rate from 4$/hr to 2$/hr. I talked to him about it and wanted to quit but he adjusted to 2.75/hr. A week in he tells me that I would get paid 1 week after my supposed “pay day”. Meaning after every 3 weeks I get 2 weeks wage. Remember I don’t have any employee benefits and I get paid only if I work. No contract or signed documents, no security at all is what I mean. Why do I have to have a week overlap when there’s no permanence to this. It’s a basic agreement and I take it as a casual job. I’m in Kenya and he was paying me by dollar and then last week changed to Kenyan shilling which is just weak. That was my last blow, so today I brought that up and he said I don’t have to be there if I felt it wasn’t fair for me and he is right . So I’m here looking for comfort before I shake it all off and rise again 🤗 share your thoughts
TLDR: My Boss changed terms of payment that would result to half pay cut and an increase of pay period. Also started paying me by Kenyan shilling which is way weak compared to the dolls that was our initial agreement.
