Anyone else feel like being a university student is not much different from working a crappy job?

Ik it's a bit of a rant but… You have to wake up early for class, sit in a dull lecture hall for an hour and a half about things you don't give a damn about, only to go onto the next lecture. Every class acts like it's the most important class, so they assign a ridiculous amounts of work and expect you to all self teach yourself on your own free time (because the professors didn't even teach some of the concepts in class). On top of that, you have to study for exams. Then professors/department policies act like we have all the damn time in the world to do this stuff and meet the deadlines. Alas, I have to waste my weekends, when I'm not working at my job, to do schoolwork. It feels like mental sweatshop labor. I'd take a day off to recharge but I can't…

I love how colleges promote the concept of enabling critical thinking (especially in their very stupid and time consuming writing and math courses) but how can you think critically when your mind is so overloaded and burnt out from all this bullshit?

They provide 'psychological services' if students are struggling mentally but what are they going to do? Make my classes ease up on the workload? No, in fact, of what little time I have, I wouldn't want to waste it on something that won't make much of a difference.

I hope it's not true that college is supposed to be the best time of your life because if that's good as it gets right now, I might as well just give up.

Fuck the education system and conditioning us to overwork.
