I work remotely and was asked if I wanted to switch to a 1099. I asked to give me the weekend to think about it. Just to find out from another employee that they where going to just switch me on this payroll with out my consent or knowledge. They would have too if one of the owners didn’t suggest they ask me first.
My first reaction was that they don’t want to have to pay my maternity leave. I want to quit but a big part of me just wants to tough it out, make them pay for maternity leave then quit.
I have worked for them for over a year. They are a small company and I have picked up slack in areas that aren’t even in my job title. I can’t believe they would even consider changing me to a 1099 with out talking to me first.
