Hi everyone.. I’m looking for some advice..
On Wednesday , I went to work, and 2 hours later my team of 6 people including myself was all terminated without cause. We were all working in a employment service , in Ontario. I personally have be there for a little under a year, where some of my coworkers, have been there for 1 year to 5 years. We were all given the same letter, saying that we were terminated without cause , because we were not a good fit.
None of us had prior warnings, or expected this. We heard that there were other branches that had this happen, but didn’t think it would happen to us. We’re all at a lost of what we should do.
We were all given a letter of termination, stating that we would get a week of severance*, however if we were to sign their full and final release , we would get an additional week of pay.
The full final release – long story short covers, how if we signed it we can not take legal actions or say anything negative about the company, it states that we will also not be trying to get more money out of their organization.
None of us has signed it.
Anyways, I’m not sure what I should do, but I do want to fight back. The job we were in was a toxic environment (Senior management) but my team was innocent. We all have families and bills to pay.
They basically wiped us all out and only kept the three new people..
