just called the temp agency i've been using for almost a year to try and snag a full-time gig. they look me up in their system, talk me through some opportunities, we pick one, and then she asks me to come downtown tomorrow for an interview and paperwork in their office.
me: the [business i'll be working] office?
her: no, the temp agency office. we need a bg check and your ID / w2.
me: don't you have that on file already?
her: well, yes…. but we want to make sure you can dress appropriately and make it on time, so we still need you to come in tomorrow for the interview.
me: i've worked for you guys for almost a year…… you know i can do this. i'm not trying to drive across town for something that can be done over the phone. would you be able to transfer me to [manager 1] or [manager 2]?
her: oooohh…… yeah, they don't work here anymore.
then it clicked. of course they need to redo all my shit. the company got bought out and so they trashed everybody who knows me / my work ethic, and now they've got to pretend like they're “updating my file” just to get a good look at me / make sure they wanna keep me around. have me reenter all my paperwork into their system instead of paying somebody on their team to enter the information they already have into whatever system they want.
whatever.
so then i start asking questions about the schedule, general dress code for the job, pay, etc. and she hits me with
her: that'll all be discussed in tomorrow's interview.
me: uhh yeah.. but i didn't find this job, you guys did. and i'm trying to decide now if it's worth driving across town to even “interview” for it. if i was looking at a posting online, i'd at least get the basics of the role before having to go out of my way.
finally she was like OKAY fine and told me the schedule and pay rate but jesus you'd have thought i was asking for her firstborn.
UGH. this is so fucking annoying. i'm sure they're gonna have me pee in a cup again too, if they're having me complete paperwork again.
what a waste of my goddamn time.
