Submitted notice, now they want vacation time paid back?

US role. Submitted notice and accepted a better offer elsewhere. Current company where I've worked less than a year (started Feb 23) has a structure where they apparently allow use of vacation time “early” with the accrual continuing throughout the year. I took a week the first of September with the time I was allotted to now discover they want 15 hours paid back to them because I didn't finish out the year. I don't have a clue what I agreed to on this specifically starting out, but I know I don't want or intend to sign anything regarding it now. I have yet to see what form I'm expected to complete but it was implied if I didn't complete it they would take me to court over it. Company is a massive corporation. Do they have standing?
