Layoffs are a growing problem.

I find it concerning that layoffs seem to be happening so frequently these days. It used to be that companies would only resort to layoffs as a last option, but now it feels like they're using it as a quick fix to please shareholders. I believe there should be legal consequences for such practices. It would be great if unions were more prevalent in every industry to help protect the rights of employees.
