Portraits from the picket lines of Michigan!The union is fighting for higher wages, an end to tiered wage systems, and to defend jobs as manufacturing shifts from internal combustion engines to batteries. This is the first action since since the ’08 bail-outs, a time when workers took an enormous haircut, losing retirement benefits, including pensions and retiree medical care.Today the big 3 automakers are seeing record profits and engaging in stock buybacks, rampantly rising CEO pay (using Clinton era stock loopholes). The cost of labor on a new car is only 5% of its total cost… It is time to modernize worker pay!
