i asked what major holidays we would be open for, and was told we will be open 365 days a year. i have never worked a minimum wage job that doesn’t give me major holidays like thanksgiving and christmas off, so i told them i would be with my family on those major holidays. they told me that since it’s my 90 day probation period (it’s everyone’s because it’s a brand new store) i am limited in how many days i get get off, and can only ask for one major holiday off in order to be “fair to the team”. since it’s a brand new store i figured there would probably be enough people who need the money and actually want to work but it’s not optional, it’s mandatory. is it best to walk away now because they’re on the super corporate side and will likely bite me in the ass later? i get the feeling they don’t care much for their employee’s well being if they don’t care about giving people major holidays off if they want them. i’m also new to this industry and don’t know the expected standard. thanks
