I interviewed at a coffee roaster as a QC & Head Barista position. Did a shadow shift where I just observed everyone & basically hung out for two hours then went home.
The next day the owner (who’s on vacation right now) texted me at 6:40am asking me to cover a 7 hour shift starting at 9am that same morning. I declined at stated we hadn’t even agreed on pay ( the interview I had was less than 5 minutes with a hiring manager who just saw my experience & asked me to come in )
and I haven’t even received a job offer.
he didn’t respond until this morning at 7am, just agreeing to my wage requirement then immediately asking me to cover a shift today, still without giving me a real job offer or having someone send me a w2 or anything.
is this illegal? if not it feels like it. I’m unemployed in a new city but this reddit has definitely helped motivate me to value myself over work, so would i be dodging a bullet by rescinding my application?
