Long story short, I was in marketing at my current company. My boss (the CMO) is absent for more 75% of the year and knows nothing about marketing. He inherited the company with his brother from his Dad, who retired and was the original owner. I had all these idea for marketing and how I wanted to grow it and take on more responsibility. He didn’t want to manage me, so instead, without asking, he moved me to the communications team where I am basically a robot doing email campaigns for our 60+ clients. I don’t even know how they sent any emails last year cause everything is so unorganized. There is another girl that works fully remote and does all the clients ongoing emails. She is sending emails everyday. Honestly, we could use more help, cause between the two of us it’s already too much. My company decided to let her go and let me know that I’m taking over all her emails. I immediately said, “Ok so how much more money am I making for absorbing an entire position.” They told me nothing. They said “Well it’s really hard to get raises here, and we’re kind of working with a salary cap and it’s gonna be hard for them to give you more money.” I responded “I will not be sending a single ongoing email unless I am getting a raise. And I will talk to whoever I need but if you want these sent out, I want more money.” He basically was flustered and panicking cause he knows those emails have to go out. They’ve been asking random people to help send them so they don’t have to pay me more. I have not gotten a raise and I have not sent a single ongoing email. I fucking hate this place.
