It's not a massive deal but, when I interviewed for my position a year back, I asked if our hybrid schedule would stay 3 days wfh/2 days in office and was basically promised there were no plans to change that. With aging pets, and chronic depression, one of my focuses was finding this type of schedule to have a better work/life balance.
Come today when our CEO of the NA offices decided, without any discussions with HR or their employees, to change this to 2 days wfh/ 3 days in office.
All of us are ticked. Not only did he take this initiative by himself, in a company that usually sends out surveys for things like this, but this random change seemingly came just because he wants to fuck around and collaborate with people more.
He states offices are going back to the office and basically we should be happy he's offering any flexibility still.
My issue is that if he is comfortable doing this on a random Wednesday then there's no guarantee that we won't just turn to 5x/wk again.
Why do these higher ups feel like people can't or don't do their jobs while wfh? I promise you, everyone fucks around regardless of location. Even his “collaboration” is just talking to colleagues.
My job hunt continues then bc I just don't like the way this was done. There's other stuff too but this really irked me.
