I’m in need of some advice on how to move forward in a battle with my employer.
I’m employed by a management company in the state of New Jersey, working within a doctors office. My employer has been modifying my time card to include lunch breaks which I did not get to take. My employer also insisted that lunch breaks are required by New Jersey state law. I have looked this up and surprisingly it’s only required for minors. I sent an email yesterday to try to resolve this and got an email back today. I need to respond to this email but I’m not sure exactly the best way to respond to get my lost wages and get the employer off my back about taking a break. Since taking a break is not possible as there’s no one to cover me for breaks and my office does not close for lunch. The office takes walk ins which means there’s not a point at which I’m guaranteed to take a break uninterrupted.
