My parents have been brainwashed by the companies

TL;DR: parents find the fifteen minute rule is essential to get a job So I was on my way to plug in my school computer, and overheard my parents talking about when my mom (42F) and my brother (13M) passed by the back of a Walmart and overheard a boss yelling at at an employee for being five minutes late. My brother said it was too harsh, but my mom (and by extent, my dad[53M]) agreed that it was perfectly justified for the manager to yell at the employee for being five minutes late. I (14M) said that that was the worst thing I’ve ever heard, just like the “ show up fifteen minutes before your interview to be considered on time “ thing and scolded me for thinking that way.
