I asked my former manager to be a reference and then I got this response. I've never even written any reviews on any job sites, let alone Glassdoor. I didn't even know what review she was talking about. I told her that I've never written any reviews before and that I have only ever used Glassdoor to do job searches and applications. I looked up the company page on Glassdoor after reading her message and checked the reviews page. I found one particularly scathing review written in the “Cons” section that included a specific call-out to her. However, I did not write that review nor even know about it until now.
I'm quite shocked at this response as I had what I thought was a great relationship with my employers. I left the company amicably, gave the standard two weeks and made sure it was written professionally and thanked them for everything I've learned and experienced. Was even told by my director that I'm welcome back any time, which I gladly thanked them for as I was happy to do contract work or return for other opportunities in the future after I acquired higher education and more experience. Not sure I feel comfortable ever returning or asking anyone there for references anymore now…
