Throwaway.
If this is the wrong sub for this, totally get it and sorry.
This applies to the US primarily.
So, lots of conflicting data right. The people at the top claim everything is fine. “Nobody wants to work” blah blah blah. Meanwhile, thousands and thousands of professionals can’t find work since being laid off. Or better yet, they can but it’s for peanuts compared to what they were earning and what’s needed to be able to survive.
I thought I was going crazy seeing offered salaries about 10k lower and with way more requirements than several years ago. Nope, they really are. I double checked old job postings in google, I’m talking way back, like 10 years. Recent graduates are struggling as well and they are just getting started in this mess.
What if we showed them how dire the situation is? Like a single day where everyone currently going through this has poster boards with their resumes on a QR code. Very vibrant signs that say open to work or something like that.
I see people struggling every single day, standing on corners asking for money. What if we all got together and took a similar approach to make a point. One day, one time – probably right before people go to lunch in major cities, everywhere. A day in the middle of the week that’s guaranteed to have traffic. People dressed in business casual asking for work.
I know it sounds crazy and maybe it would be embarrassing but it’s an intrusive thought that isn’t going away.
