I haven’t worked in almost 3 months. Tomorrow I’m back at it with a new job

Back in July, I got let go from a job I'd been at for nearly 3 years. It was a union gig, so I filed a grievance to try to get my job back. The grievance process is a real marathon. It's been almost 2 months, and we've finally reached the last step, which is arbitration. My union rep warned me that setting an arbitration date could take up to 6 more months. Hopefully, when it's all over, they'll rule in my favor and I'll get all the back pay I missed out on during these almost 3 months without work, plus whatever time this whole process takes. I've used up my savings, and I'm starting a new job tomorrow… People keep asking if I'm excited, but honestly, not really. What's better than having control over your own schedule and not being stuck somewhere doing stuff you don't want to…

People keep asking if I'm excited, but honestly, not really. What's better than having control over your own schedule and not being stuck somewhere doing stuff you don't want to do for 40 hours a week?

Aside from the financial stress, being off work and just chilling at home, doing whatever I pleased, was the happiest I've been in a long, long time.
