I can’t find staff to stay. And it’s not my business so why do I care?

I’m the manager for a small business in a niche industry. Just like many, we’ve had issues with staffing for back and front of house. There’s a myriad of reasons, but partly is aside from my managerial role, there’s no advancement, no benefits, or room for growth for anyone else. My salary is barely cutting it for me to survive, and I’ve been looking for a new position for 7 months- in the meantime I still have a job to do and have to bring people in knowing they are going to be looking for something else. I am constantly training receptionists that don’t last or don’t do the job properly. I can’t even take vacation for myself because we’re “short at the desk”. The owner is failing to see an issue how a constant revolving door has lost her clients as well as breeding an environment where the one…

I’ve started to care about the outcome of this business more and more, but in the meantime I’m still the one holding the bag and stuck until I find something else.
