My boss’s brother lied about me.

Yesterday I got to work a few minutes late while our morning meeting was wrapping up. I ran into the office, acknowledged the patients already in the waiting room (boss’s brother) and clocked in. I went straight to work and everything was normal for the day until the second half of my shift. My colleague told me that our boss and the manager had pulled her aside to ask about me. They asked her if I came in mad today and she said no. She asked them why and apparently in the morning when I was rushing into the office my boss’s brother said he saw me flick someone off or I flicked off the office but he saw me do it. I don’t even know where to begin with this because what?! I’m not typically one to use that gesture… don’t remember the last time I actually flicked anyone…

I’m not typically one to use that gesture… don’t remember the last time I actually flicked anyone off. Also, I wasn’t upset yesterday. I felt bad that I was late so I was trying to slip in unnoticed but I wasn’t upset or anything. Even if I was upset, why would I flick off the office when our whole entrance is glass and I could clearly see patients there so I know they could see me too?? Him and I have met a few times when he comes for his appointments but we’ve never had a real conversation or anything. I’ve never done anything to him to make him upset and he has never done anything to really show that he even knew I existed so I’m really confused as to why he’d lie about something like that? I wouldn’t care if no one paid attention to his claim but the manager admitted my boss was “freaking out” about the situation and wanted to look at the security cameras. I am not against it since I really didn’t do anything. But I’m worried now that this will affect my job and I genuinely love my office so I don’t want to get in trouble over some entitled loser’s lies. But my boss never addressed this lie with me, even the manager wasn’t going to say anything to me. I’m the one who confronted her about the lie and why he’d say something like that if it never happened. She just waved it off and said not to worry because she believed me. But does our boss believe me? I don’t want to lose my job.
