I recently got highered as a bakery clerk at Publix (1-2 months ago)and been working 2 days a week part time. I basically got no training so I can’t price cakes, write on cakes, take cake orders and answer the phone. I have basically been working closing shifts by myself since I got there, 1 week in manager said I’m closing by myself didn’t explain anything and basically just told me clean and after 4 hours everybody was gone.
Since then I’ve worked shifts like 3:30-11 but everybody leaves at 6 so I have to take my break as soon as I get there. The managers keep telling me I’m lucky I’m even getting a break because they stayed past the time they were suppost to be there so I could get a break.
Idk if it’s just me but it feels impossible to clean the whole bakery by myself while dealing with customers, I’m usually scheduled to 10:30 but often leave at 11:30 with still things undone. Do I get paid if I stay past the scheduled time?
I wish I had somebody else to close with me so I could get everything done at a reasonable time and customers keep complaining when I tell them nobody is here to write happy birthday insertname on the cakes. One lady even said I was worthless.
Idk if I can take this job anymore, this is my first job and it’s very overwhelming.
