I feel like I don't really even need to go into the nitty gritty of the situation because I have had this happen to me at every job I've ever held and I am sure I am not alone in this. I am frequently asked and expected to do other people's tasks (outside of my normal workload) because I am well versed and efficient in completing tasks. It has gotten to the point that any time there is an issue, the managers immediately ask if I have been consulted yet. I have brought this to my bosses attention that people are asking me to do things simply so they don't have to do it. Of course the response was along the lines of, “We have to help each other out from time to time as we are a team and sometimes one person might be overloaded.”. It made me want to rip my hair out because I got to this point because I have been too helpful and now people are trying to take advantage of that. So how do I appropriately respond in this situation without it sounding like I just don't want to help people?
