Be wary of new job offers with employers that offer everything you want

I work in IT for a very well-known company 4 of my colleagues left their jobs because they were recruited by companies in direct competition with ours. So what happened when the new jobs were offered they used language like we need you to start as soon as possible, or ASAP so my friends gave 2 weeks notice or signed a letter with the intent to quit, and all of a sudden that job they were getting was no longer there. The company would state we decided to go in another direction or we are restructuring our division and we will keep you on file if an opportunity comes up. All my friends were gone within 2 months of each other after offers from some from the same company. All my friends were gone within 2 months of each other after offers from some from the same company. I recently was contacted by a recruiter offering me 20% more than I was making and loads of benefits I declined. My company hired 4 new IT workers at 30% less then what my co-workers were making. I have no proof but I believe these companies are working together to get rid of employees they don't want to fire because they don't want to deal with severance pay in my contract there is a cause I don't get severance pay if Voluntarily quit my job. Has anyone heard of something like this.
